Mullein Oil

Mullein or Verbascum Thapsus and Wavy Leaf Mullein or Verbascum Sinuatum, as they are botanically known, is both used to extract the essential oil.

The essential oil contains coumarin, rotenone, and tannin, triterpene saponins like verbascosaponin, mucilage, aucubin, catalpol, flavonoids, and phenolic acids.

This oil is very efficient in curing both internal and external infections. Internally, it cures infections in the genitals and the urinary tracts, colon, excretory system, and the kidneys.

Externally, it fights infections on the skin, in the ear, nose, and other parts of the body.

This Essential Oil of Mullein is also capable of reducing fever by fighting the infections that cause the fever.

The diuretic properties of this oil also contribute to this effect, since removal of toxins and wastes from the body speeds up recovery from infections.

A combination oil of garlic and mullein is good for our animal companions as well, it works on ear mites and helps control fleas and itching.

Mullein flowers are also used in teas to coat sore throats and calm coughing.

Mullein tones and soothes irritated lungs and speeds healing of damaged tissues, which could help lungs damaged by smoking, recover.

Mullein is one of the traditional smoking herbs as well, which could be used as a tobacco substitute to help smokers quit as well.

It has been a potent medicinal herb since many centuries in Europe and America.

It was used in formulations to treat fungal infections like ringworm and athlete’s foot.
